Back with a Word Art Wednesday Card

Hi everyone!
I've been MIA for quite some time now.   I've started working for a local photography company and between my new job, my daughter's school activities, church ministries, and just trying to maintain somewhat of a liveable home, the blog, of course, fell to the way-side.
But, I'm so glad to be back to share the latest Word Art Wednesday design with you all.
The verse for this week is such a reminder to me that God is never too busy for us and He will never allow His children to fall by the wayside.

Here is my card:

Misty D. Designs

I'm so glad and thankful that God willingly gave His only son that I and all those who place their complete trust in Him may have life.  Eternal Life!

Misty D. Designs

I chose bright, happy colors for this card, because that's what the gospel makes me feel.... happy!

Misty D. Designs

I used an old Websters Pages paper line for this card called Botanical Christmas.  I also used lots of random embellishments from my stash...:)

I invite to come play along with us at Word Art Wednesday.  We love to see your creations. Also, remember that Word Art Wednesday is on Instagram.  Tag your creations #wawchallenge and you just might be featured!

Thank you for stopping by today!

My Word Art Wednesday DT Card

Yep, it's that time again!  I'm so grateful that it's Wednesday.  It has seemed to be a very intense  week thus far,  and I'm really looking forward to seeing some good friends of ours this weekend.  I'm even more grateful that this Wednesday just happens to be Word Art Wednesday!   You knew that.  I mean why else would I blog. haha.....  I truly hope to be sharing more with you all soon, but for now, I'm very happy to at least keep up with Word Art Wednesday

this is my latest card for the design team:

Misty D. Designs

Isn't this just such an encouraging verse?!   I'm so glad that my God knows all, that there is none like Him.  None can know His thoughts.  That's why I made a card using a sky/cloud theme.   This verse just reminds me that God is above all, so the theme just sort of worked with what I was thinking about God.

Misty D. Designs

The paper that I chose for my card is DCWV Sunday Afternoon stack.  I fussy cut the clouds from the same paper that I used as my base.  I then layered them using foam dimensional tape.   lastly, I added a hot air balloon sticker from Echo Park, some enamel dots from MME, some twine at the top and Nuvo crystal drops in Robins Egg Blue around the edge of the verse.

Misty D. Designs

I hope you enjoy getting crafty this week as a gift from God.  I invite you to join us at Word Art Wednesday.  The challenge is always "anything goes" .  You're invited to use the word art, but it's not required to participate.  Also, If you're on Instagram and share your challenge entry, remember to tag us using #wawchallenge.   You just might be featured on our IG page.

My Latest Word Art Wednesday Card and Some Big News!

Well, Hello there!
I hope my post today finds you all doing well, thriving right where God has you, and at peace with whatever He has ordained for your life at this time.  I say that as I pray those very words for myself.  I desperately want to keep a quiet heart that is reliant upon Him to carry me through whatever He has planned for me.  I admittedly don't do a very good job of that and must keep going back to the "throne of Grace" crying out for more of Him. I'm so prone to wander and it's so easy to listen to the voices of worldly wisdom rather than to what my God has clearly said in His word.  That brings me to this week's Word Art Wednesday Card.

Misty D. Designs

I do apologize for the very bad photo.  It's been dark and rainy here, so I ended up taking my picture using a desk lamp.  But at least the verse is clear and that's what it's all about!
This week's verse is such a reminder to me to be careful about where I'm looking for wisdom/direction in life.   True wisdom is found only in God, and He promises to give it to those who ask. (see James 1:5)
It's also a reminder to me to ask for that wisdom "early" .   Why is it that we tend to go to God last?  I'm so guilty of doing this.  I'll ask my husband, friends, or family before seeking God.  It should be God first, or as this verse would say it "early".   I'm so glad to have made this a card this week using the Word Art Wednesday verse, I really needed this reminder.

misty d. designs

Haha, you can totally see the light from my desk lamp in the corner of this picture.  I thought it looked kinda cool though.
For this week's card I used paper from My Minds Eye and Simple Stories.  I fussy cut some flowers from the MME paper and added some black Martha Stewart micro beads to the centers.
Lastly, I added some Doodle Bug Designs sequins.

Misty D. Designs

And now for that big news!   Word Art Wednesday is now on Instagram!   Come on over for a visit.  If you're on IG and have entered our challenge, then we encourage you to share your card on IG and use hashtag #WAWchallenge.   We'll be watching for your tags and just might feature your card on our IG page.  (please make sure your account is public if you'd like to be featured)
Stop on by the Word Art Wednesday Blog for more big news from Karen......
As always the challenge is "anything goes"  I'd love to see your creations.

Shabby Chic Card for Word Art Wednesday #250-251

Yep, you all know it's that time again for another Word Art Wednesday!   Lately, that seems to be all I'm sharing.  Now, mind you, I'm not complaining about that.   I'm so thankful to be a part of the Word Art Wednesday design team.   I just know that with how busy I've been,  I wouldn't make time to craft at all if it weren't for my commitment to this team.  I tend to put everything else first, I tell myself that I'll get time to craft later.  Once later rolls around, I'm usually too tired.
With that being said,  I'm so grateful to get the chance to make at least a few cards a month.  And what better way to spend my craft time then to create using beautifully designed Word Art.  I'm always so inspired to create and thankful to meditate on the meaning of God's word.
I encourage all you card makers out there to come join in the challenge.  Our challenges are always "anything goes" and you're not required to use the Word Art to participate.
Here is my card creation for this week's Word Art Wednesday:

Misty D. Designs

I just love this verse!  This is such a faith-affirming verse!  To know what my God has said will be done,  what He has decreed will happen,  and His word will never change.  God is not fickle about what He has said... therefore He is a God I can completely trust!

Misty D. Designs

I went for the girly, vintage look with this card.   I guess not creating for awhile made me want to use a lot of my goodies. :)
The flowers used here are from the Recollections line at Micheal's Craft Store and The Paper Studio line from Hobby Lobby.  The Pearls are from Prima Marketing.

Misty D. Designs

I used papers both from My Minds Eye and DCWV.
The lace trim is found in dollar bins at Micheal's Craft Store and I think that's where I got the resin flower as well.
Lastly, I finished the card by adding Nuvo Crystal drops around the edge of the ornate frame.
It was so nice to get back in my craft room, and I had so much fun making this card.
Thank you for stopping by to take a look today, I hope you've learned a little about my God and have been inspired to go create for the King of Kings.

Another Word Art Wednesday Card Using Vellum

Welcome!  It's time for Word Art Wednesday # 248-249!
You all know how much I love making pretty things for Word Art Wednesday.  It truly is one of the most rewarding design teams to be a part of.   Karen works so hard to keep this challenge blog going.  I don't know how she does it.  I can hardly find the time to keep this little blog going.   I'm really going to try to post more often.  I have so many ideas of things that I'd like to share with you all.  Hopefully soon, but until then, I'm going to keep enjoying Word Art Wednesday and I'm thankful for the fact that, at least for now, designing for Word Art Wednesday is what is getting me in my craft room!
Here is the card I made for this week.

Misty D. Designs

I had a lot of fun with this card.  I used lots of textures on this card, between the burlap, vellum, lace and sequins, it's all there!
Once again, my color palette was inspired by the fall colors right outside my window.  I just love this time of year.

Misty D. Designs

I used the same Hiedi Swapp Vellum that I used on these two cards seen here.  I think vellum will be making a regular appearance around here, it's just so versatile.  I know I've only scratched the surface of what can be done with it.  I chose, this time, to use a border punch on the vellum, I then used dimensional foam tape to adhere the vellum to the card base.  (it's hiding under the flower stickers) . I also once again used my Nuvo Crystal drops only, this time, I used the color raspberry pink.

Misty D. Designs

And once again, another precious verse from God's word.  Aren't they all precious?!  What an awesome thing to be reminded of, that even the mountains and the hills will not continue on as long as our God's promise of peace and mercy to His children.  That is just so encouraging to me as I sit and meditate on this verse!
I'd love to have you join the challenge at Word Art Wednesday this week.  I enjoy seeing all of your creativity.  I don't always get a chance to comment on all the cards, but please know that I love to have you all play along.
The Word Art is free to use, but you're not required to use it.
Thank you for stopping by today and for your sweet words of encouragement.  I hope you've been inspired to go create for the King today!

Blessings,

My Quick Card For Word Art Wednesday #246-247

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  We're half way through the week.  This has been a very busy week for me as I've begun working at my daughter's school this week.  I'm not quite yet used to this new schedule and I'll admit I'm having trouble keeping up with everything.   This week's Word Art Wednesday literally snuck up on me.  I hurried home from work and put this card together just in time to snap a picture before I lost sunlight.  I didn't manage to get any detail photos this week.  So, just the one picture.  I'll admit, making a card like this, when the pressure is on stretches my creativity in a good way.   Here is my card for this week.

Misty D. Designs

I was inspired this week by the fall colors beginning to make an appearance.  I'm starting to get into that fall mood.  It's such a beautiful time of year.   It's such a blessing from God that He would see fit to give us the changing seasons.  This verse is a sweet reminder that no matter the season of life we're in our true hope and 'expectation' comes only from God.
I hope you'll join us this week at Word Art Wednesday.  I just love seeing what creative beauty you all come up with .  The challenge is always anything goes, and you're not required to use the word art, but we love it when you do. :)
Thank you for stopping by my little crafty space today.

Proverbs 24: 3-4 Cards for Word Art Wednesday

Hi,Y'all!
It's time once again for Word Art Wednesday!  I can't believe how quickly this summer has flown by, I've barely had the time to keep up with this blog and my design team commitments.  I don't know about you, but I'm beginning to feel ready for a more normal routine again.  Hopefully, I'll post more once that happens.  Hopefully, (wink, wink).
I've really missed having time to spend in my craft room just creating, and meditating on God's word.  It's getting to be so bad that I've begun to shun my housework just so I can spend some time playing with papers.  Shame on me, I know, but doing that allowed me to make 2 Word Art Wednesday Card designs.  So, it can't be all bad, right? :)

Misty D. Designs

This is the first card I created.  I had some new products on my desk that I'd yet to play with and finally got the chance to use them on this card.  I printed the Word Art onto a piece of Heidi Swapp Vellum.  I've never used vellum before, I really enjoyed it and have so many more ideas for future use.  When I saw this weeks' Word Art selection, I already knew what paper I would use.  I've been holding onto this sweet paper from Simple Stories since the Let's Create Expo I attended back in April!  It fits the verse perfectly!

Misty D. Designs

Here is a close up of another new product I've been playing with lately. These adorable, little wood veneer hearts from The Paper Studio.   You may have seen me use them on my last Word Art Wednesday card.  You'll probably continue to see them, I apologize, but I'm kinda hooked. :)

Misty D. Designs

This is the second card I made.  I still had all my goodies out on my desk and just couldn't resist making another.   I used the same paper ephemera from Simple Stories, a little washi tape, and a new product I just received from Scrapbook.Com, called Nuvo Crystal Drops.  Have you heard of them?  Maybe I'm the last to know about these, but I think this product will be making a regular appearance in my work from here on out.  I love the pretty, little almost enamel looking drops.

Misty D. Designs

You can see the crystal drops a little better in this close up. The color I used is called Duck Egg Blue.  It's such a soft blue that the drops are almost white.   I went a little crazy adding the liquid drops all over my card. They're just too fun!   And, yes, more wood veneer hearts.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you've been encouraged and inspired to create for the King!
I invite you to link up your creations over at Word Art Wednesday.  The Word Art is free to use, but not required.  I just love seeing what you all come up with .

Mark 11:22 Card For Word Art Wednesday #242-243

Hi, Y'all!
I'm back again to share my latest Word Art Wednesday design with you.  I'll be honest with you, I haven't really thought that much on this verse.  The reason being that I just put this card together this morning.  ( I'm writing this Tuesday evening to post for Wednesday) But as I now sit here writing this post, the verse is really hitting me hard.
This verse for this week is Mark 11:22.  Here is what I hurriedly put together this morning.

Misty D. Designs

"Have Faith", that's a phrase that gets thrown around a lot.  But faith is only as good as the object of that faith.  When I hear people say "have faith" I want to ask them, "faith in what"?".  Jesus gives us the answer in this verse, Have faith in God.  Not just any god, but the one true God who created the universe and holds my very life in His hand.  That is a faith worth having, not because of my faith, but because of the object of my faith.
With that being said, I'm definitely being challenged and reminded to "have faith" in this particular season of my life.

Misty D. Designs

You see, this upcoming school year is going to be full changes for me.  I'm will no longer be homeschooling my children, which means an all new way of life for me in a sense.  My oldest will be leaving for college in 2wks. I'm going to miss him so much.  My daughter will be entering high school and I'll be working at her school a few days a week. This will be my first time working outside the home in nearly 4yrs.  I'm worried for both of them.  I'm worried about how I'll handle all the new situations that are sure to come my way.  This school year is going to be a huge step out of my comfort zone.  That's the reason this verse is such a good reminder for me.  I don't need to worry, I need to "have faith" in the only one who is really in control of all of this, GOD!  Just writing that gives me peace, because, I mean, God!  He is the great I am!  He is God of all and I know that I can trust Him to go before me in all of this. :)

Misty D. Designs

I kept this card simple by just adding some little wood hearts from Paper Studio and an enamel heart from My Minds Eye.  The paper I used is also from the Paper Studio mint to be fab line.
If you'd like to join in the challenge over at Word Art Wednesday we would love to see your creations.  The challenge is "anything goes".  You do not have to use the word art, although we love it when you do. :)
I'd like to say, Thank you to every one of you who take the time to stop by my blog and for all of your support in what I'm doing here.

Blessings,

Quick and Simple Thank You Cards

Hi, Y'all!
After receiving such an overwhelming response to my Quick and Simple Baby Shower Cards post, I thought I'd share with you a quick and simple way to construct handmade thank you cards.  I'm always in need of a quick thank you card and with a little help from my daughter, these came together in a snap.

misty d. designs

To make these cards, I used 3x5 journaling cards from My Minds Eye.  On one side of the journaling tag, there is a space to record sentiments/memories, on the other side is just a pattern.  I used the patterned side. I had my daughter use my old, big, red Sizzix machine to die-cut the hearts. I then used both the die-cut negative and the hearts themselves to make the cards.

misty d. designs

For this card, I used one of the die-cut hearts that my daughter labored over.  I glued it down to the card.  Next, I used an old Stampin Up stamp to heat emboss the "thank you" sentiment, using gold embossing powder.

misty d. designs

Lastly, I added a piece of gold striped washi tape across the bottom of the card and embellished with a single gold sequin. This card is done!

misty d. designs

For the next two cards, I used the die-cut negatives but basically did the same thing.  I glued down the negative, then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.

misty d. designs

To embellish the cards I added some coordinating lace and some sequins. Finished!  With my daughter doing all of the die-cutting, the cards came together like on an assembly line.

misty d. designs

The only trouble I had in making these cards was the actual embossing.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to get consistent results. I ended up throwing away several cards that I had messed up.  I'd love for you all to share any tips you may have as to how to achieve the best results when heat embossing.  I just can't seem to get the hang of it.

misty d. designs

At least these three cards turned out well.  If you'd be interested in purchasing these cards or others like them then feel free to check out my Etsy shop
As always, thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today.

Starry Night Card for Word Art Wednesday #240-241

Welcome back!
I'm checking in today to share my latest Word Art Wednesday design with you all.  Thank you all for your interest in Word Art Wednesday.  Your sweet comments are so encouraging and are a reminder of why I do this.  May Word Art Wednesday continue to be for His Glory!
Isn't it really all about Him, not just Word Art Wednesday, but life as a whole?!
That brings me to our current challenge.  The chosen verse is Ps. 8:3-4

Misty D. Designs

This verse speaks of the contrast between who God is and who man is.  When we really stop to consider that Holy God created every single atom in the vast universe by just the power of His word!  In light of how awesome God is, we are nothings.  This thought should both humble us and encourage us as well.   We have a God who does not need us, yet is mindful of us.  God desires a relationship with each one of us and in His wisdom has made a way for us to have that relationship with Him.  He sent His son to earth, to live a perfect sinless life, and to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  Jesus then rose from the dead on the 3rd day and is now in heaven making intercession for the saints (his followers).
To have this relationship with God all you must do is repent of your sins, and trust completely in Christ's finished work on the cross.  I praise God that He chose to be "mindful" of us!

Misty D. Designs

To make this card I used Pennelli watercolors on Canson watercolor paper.  I then adhered lots of glass glitter,  clear confetti, and iridescent sequins.  All to give my card that "Starry Night" look.  I can't say this card turned out the way I had envisioned in my mind.  I'm still working on my watercolor skills.  :P  What matters is that I did my best and that I'm committed to improving my craft.
I invite you to join the challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  It's "anything goes".  You are not required to use the verse, but we love it when you do!  I can't wait to see all of your creations.

Blessings,

Quick and Simple Baby Shower Cards

Hi, There!
If your life is anything like mine, it's busy!  One thing that keeps me busy is the many baby showers that I'm invited to attend.  I love baby showers and the celebration of new life, but when I've got several back to back showers to attend, I barely have enough time to shop for a gift let alone make a card.  The problem is that I've always been a very slow crafter.  I really take my time to make a card, usually close to an hour per card.  Well, that isn't gonna work when I've only got 10 min. before a shower to get a card made.  So, I did it! I got my act together and found a simple way to put together a baby shower card in about 10 min.
Here's a sampling of some of my latest baby shower cards.

Misty D. Designs

What makes this process so easy and quick is to use a coordinating paper line that includes preprinted title cards.  For this trio of cards I used the "Hello Baby" line by Simple Stories.

Misty D. Designs

For each card, I simply cut out a title tag from the paper ( this particular line has 3 full pages of tags, giving me the ability to make about 15 cards. ), adhered it to the card base, and lastly embellish.

Misty D. Designs

On this card, I embellished using enamel dots, a button, fine distress glitter, and a stamped/embossed sentiment.
Glue the layers together and you're finished!

Misty D. Designs

I didn't add much to this card.  Just an enamel heart and some distress glitter to hearts.

Misty D. Designs

This last card would be great for a boy's baby shower.

Misty D. Designs

I added an enamel heart, wooden button, and some twine.  I adhered the title tag to my base using foam tape to give it some dimension.

Misty D. Designs

So that's it!  Only 10 min. per card!  It's so easy if I use a coordinating paper pack because then I don't have much to figure out, everything already matches so nicely.
I encourage you to give it a try for your next baby shower, because who doesn't love receiving a handmade card?
If you're not up to making them yourself,  I'll have this trio of cards for sale in my Etsy shop. Stop by and see what strikes your fancy. :)

Blessings,
