Philippians 1:9-10 Water Color Resist Card

Hi again,

I don't usually post twice in the same day, but I really wanted to get my latest card out today. I've designed this scripture verse, watercolor card for the new challenge over at the Word Art Wednesday blog.  I love what these ladies do!  Every other Wednesday, along with the challenge, they share a verse from the Bible and a devotional.  I appreciate their clear truthful teaching of the verse, sometimes it's the very same verses I may have been studying that week.  Now that's God!  

Today's verse is Philippians 1:9-10.  I encourage you to stop by and read the devotional.  This card is what I've been inspired to create using the Word Art Wednesday  scripture verse.  I've said it before, but I'm really enjoying this new watercolor trend.  I find the use of paints very relaxing.  For this watercolor card, I used my Molotow resist pen to add a few small circles.  Once I finished painting watercolors over the circles, I removed the resist masking and was left with small white spots.  Then, after the paper dried I printed the scripture verse onto it.

Clear Scraps Girl's Dress Album, Continued

Okay, so, I said I'd be back to share the rest of the Precious Grace album with you, and here I am!  Big Surprise, I know.  Hee hee.  Thank you to everyone who continues to put up with my cheesiness.  I'll get right to it with the pics, and hopefully some useful tips.

If you remember from the last post, this is the front cover of the album. One of the things that I love about using acrylic is that I get to use my white rub on transfers, they show up so well on the clear acrylic.  I've also distressed the edges of all the pages using StazOn opaque ink in Cotton White. You must use an ink like this, otherwise, the ink won't dry on the acrylic and you'll end up with a smeared mess. :P

I've used more rub on transfers on this page, the white scroll at the top, and the roses in the top corner.  One thing to watch for when using rub-ons is that sometimes the back side is completely white, therefore, it's not so cute when seen from the other side of the page.  So, be sure to check.  If you still want to use that rub on, just come up with a way to cover it up on the back side. I usually save myself the headache by just using white rub-ons, that way it looks the same on both sides.

Both the sentiment and the flourish behind my flower cluster are rub-ons.  When applied directly to the paper, I don't have to worry about them showing through at all. 

Here's what I mean by the rub-ons showing through on the back side.  That happened here, and it didn't look pretty.  To cover it, I added some gesso using a damask stencil, then I added glass glitter before the gesso dried, and finished it all off with my Viva Pearl Pen.  Now, it looks intentional rather than an ugly mistake. 

 You'd never even know, the recipient actually complimented the rub-on area! 

I almost always add a pocket page to my albums.  I think it makes it fun for the recipient to add personal little details, and besides they're pretty!  I just fussy cut a pocket from MME paper and glued it down only on the edges.  Then just embellish to your heart's content and add some coordinating journaling tags.

With acrylic albums, I usually feel the need to break up the clear pages by using a solid page. To do this, I just trace my acrylic shape onto a piece of thin cardboard and cut out.  Then just decorate it as you would in any mini album.  I also add raised frames to my albums, this way the recipient can just slide the picture into the frame.  

I add the frames using foam dimensional tape, I leave the top edge open, so a picture can just slip right in.  I thought this frame would also look cute with eyelet lace trim tucked behind it as well. 

 Finally, the back cover of the album.  I usually completely cover the back side.  Just make sure to use 2-sided paper, as it will show on the other side of the acrylic.   

So that's it, I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen.  I encourage you to try making something with Clear Scraps acrylic yourself.  I know it can seem overwhelming to start a project like this but just keep at it.  The results are so beautiful.  It took me almost an entire year to finish this album!  I just worked on about once a month and took my time. :) If you missed the first part of this album, be sure to check it out here.

Distress Ink, Water Color Card

Hi, everyone!  I thought I'd pop in real quick today to share with you all a card I've put together using a free Paper Smooches Digi stamp. I've never used a Digi stamp before but thought I'd give it a try.  I really like how this card turned out, and I will definitely be using Digi stamps again in the future.

Now, I know that I said I would be back to share more from my Clear Scraps girl's dress album, but I just couldn't wait to share this card with you.  I'll share more from the Clear Scraps album in my next post. :) 

 I've really been into the whole watercolor trend lately since I first tried it on this card.  So, I wanted to try it out again, this time with a watercolor background.  I used SEI tiffany blue ink to watercolor the background of this card. I then used the same color to stamp the clouds, followed by a little touch of Martha Stewart fine glitter in sugar cube.

I also used watercolor for this cute little bird. The bird was the free Digi that I got from the Paper Smooches blog. Once I finished coloring the bird, I added the same glitter around its eye and used my Viva pearl pen for the center of the eye. Then I just stamped a sentiment, added some twine... and whala! Done!   I was having so much fun, I just had to make another! Here it is in a different color.

I've decided to enter this card in the Paper Smooches May guest designer challenge.  Woohoo! go me!

Precious Grace, Clear Scraps Girls Dress Album

  Hello There! Time for me stop in and share another album with you.  I made this album for a close friend of mine, and I enjoyed every minute of the process.  She and her precious girl inspired every pretty detail of this album!

  This time, I've made a "clear scraps" album. What's that, you ask?  Clear Scraps is a company who specializes in acrylic scrap products. Working with acrylic is so fun! It takes album design to a whole new level, as you need to plan out what will show from behind. I love working with acrylic albums because it makes it possible to show so much more dimension.   Let me show you!

  I'll try to show you each layer of the album at a time, so you can see how each clear layer builds upon the layer behind it. This is the front cover and some of what you're seeing is actually behind the  top layer. 

For the second page, I wanted something solid to build on.  So I traced the acrylic dress shape onto cardboard, cut out, and added it right into the album.

  This is the solid cardboard page I made. This is the page that is directly behind the front cover. As you can see the cluster around the frame could also be seen from the front cover.  And isn't Baby Grace just the cutest! She's definitely the star of this page. 

  Here's the next page, another clear layer.  You can see the french script paper from the layer below this page, but it looks to be a part of this page. 

  This is also a clear page, but I Modge Podged the script paper to the backside knowing that it would show through. It gave such a unique look to the page. And don't you just adore this picture. :) It makes me smile.

  It looks as if her name is on this page above her picture, but it's actually showing through from the page behind this one.
